Writing tags
Which NFC tags should I buy?
Any NDEF-writable tag works. NTAG215 or NTAG216 tags hold both the iPhone link and the Android Wi‑Fi format. Smaller NTAG213 tags usually only have room for the iPhone link, and AirTap tells you when that happens.
"This tag can't be written to"
The tag is locked (read-only) or isn't NDEF-formatted. Use a new, unlocked tag.
The write didn't start
Hold the top edge of your iPhone flat against the tag and keep it still until you see the confirmation. Phone cases with metal or magnets can block NFC.
Joining a network
Nothing happens when I tap the tag
- Make sure your iPhone is unlocked and the screen is on.
- Hold the top edge of the iPhone near the tag for a second.
- On Android, make sure NFC is turned on in Settings.
It says it couldn't join
Check that the network name and password on the tag are exactly right. They're case-sensitive. If the password changed, write the tag again with the AirTap app.
Android doesn't offer to connect
The tag may be too small to hold the Android format (see "Which NFC tags should I buy?"). Networks that only allow WPA3 may also not work on some Android phones. Opening the tag's link still shows the password to enter by hand.
Privacy
AirTap has no accounts and no tracking. Your network details are written to the tag itself. Read the full Privacy Policy.
